Helping the Community Heal

Our hearts are breaking along with our entire Spartan community. We are saddened to hear of the passing of Brian Fraser, Alexandria Verner and Arielle Diamond Anderson, those who are still critically injured and the thousands who were impacted. MSU should be a safe haven, and we hope we can have a part in making that a reality again. We are thankful for all of the first responders and law enforcement who were on the front lines. We will continue to show up and pray for our community.

In 2019, the Izzo Legacy Family Fund was established with a mission of unifying the MSU and Greater Lansing Communities, encouraging inclusivity, and honoring Coach Izzo's values of Spartan loyalty, family, community, and charitable giving. In this time of tragedy, the Izzo Legacy reaffirms its commitment to this mission.

In that spirit, the Izzo Legacy is making a $5,000 donation to MSU Safe Place and a $5,000 donation to Ele's Place in honor of Brian, Alexandria and Arielle. MSU Safe Place is offering reflect and connect sessions for grieving MSU faculty, staff, and students. Ele’s Place is a resource for grief support for children, teens and their families. All services are provided at no cost. They also provide a peer-to-peer support group for young adults between the ages of 18-26, in the Capital Region. Ele’s Place Bereavement Coordinators are available for phone consultations at 517-482-1315, Monday –Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. We encourage others to add to this support💚
